Every single one of our projects starts with a complete power washing and detailed surface preparation – scraping, sanding, caulking, and priming before a single drop of paint is applied. We ensure your landscaping, trim and surrounding areas are well protected throughout the job. We are also fully licensed, insured, and experienced with climatic changes in Ontario, and we only use exterior-grade paints rated for the climate. JEM Contracting is always on schedule, communicate clearly, and leave the job site clean every day.
For over twenty years, JEM Contracting has been providing home owners and local communities with exceptional exterior painting service, and we know that painting your home is a significant investment. We’ll be straight with you: we’re probably not going to be the cheapest bid, and that’s by design. Our environment requires only the best products. We do extensive surface preparation work and use top-tier products because that’s what makes a finish hold up and last for years. After twenty years in business, you can also rest assured that we will be here to honor our warranty long after the job is done.
When you hire JEM Contracting, we will carry out all the preparation work your home needs – scraping, sanding edges to prevent further peeling, caulking siding and trim, and securing loose boards. Before any paint goes on, we fully protect your property with taped-down sheeting and heavy canvas drop cloths over roofs, decks and mulch beds, and vegetation; if you have delicate plants or prize roses, we cover those specifically. While we carry out our work, we spray the siding and then back brush or back-roll it so the material works into the surface, and we do the trim by hand. We primarily use high quality paints, matching the finish to the surface – flat for siding, soft gloss for trim.
Ontario weather can be unpredictable at times. As a result, most premium paints require forty degree temps or above to go on. During the fall season, we follow the sun around the house, working the sun-facing sides where the surface is warmer than the air. On very hot days we do the opposite and pain in the shade so the paint cures properly. If rain is in the forecast, we let you know ahead of time that we won’t be painting outside that day.
In most cases, the exact same crew that starts your project is also the crew that finishes it. Once your job is booked, a dedicated project manager will take over to oversee everything from start to finish, ensuring your contract is followed, our standards are met, and you’re happy with the result. Your project manager will be your main point of contact, and you’ll get an email introducing them before your job starts.
